Extragalactic astrophysics, including nearby and distant galaxies, active galaxies, galaxy clusters, large-scale structure, galaxy formation/evolution, scale structure, basic of cosmology, cosmic radiation backgrounds, and observational constraints on cosmological models.

Prerequisites: PHYS 701, PHYS 703, and ASTR 211 or equivalent, consent of instructor.
