Overview
Modern society operates in a global environment with increasing intercontinental travel, trade, and communication. The great frequency of every-day interactions with people from different parts of the world has increased the need for clinical and public health professionals to understand health environments and policy that extend beyond local borders. Certficate of Graduate Study in Global Health (CGSGH) will prepare students with the knowledge and skills that are necessary to conduct international work, by focusing on topics such as comparative health systems and policies; health care administration, finance and services; sociocultural perspectives on health; and development and evaluation of health promotion programs that are sensitive to local context.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate understanding of global health issues and efforts to alleviate shortfalls through various methods of in-depth investigation and research.
- Students will demonstration of an understanding of environmental stressors and pollution; their sources in the natural, home and workplace environments; their modes of transport and transformation; their ecological and public health effects; and, methods of prevention/remediation.
